My Checklist  

This time line is an approximate guide to help plan your wedding.  It is also a good idea to make copies of this guide
for your parents and/or maid of honor as well as your consultant so that these responsibilities can be delegated
properly.

TWELVE TO NINE MONTHS PRIOR:

  • Select and purchase the engagement ring
  • Pick a date and start to visualize your wedding
  • Set a budget.  Delegate expense responsibilities
  • Select and purchase wedding bands as well as any other jewelry
  • Select a wedding consultant (if any) and secure a deposit
  • Compile a guest list and determine the size of your wedding
  • Select a site for your ceremony and secure with a deposit
  • Select a site for your reception and secure with a deposit
  • Determine your wedding party and get their sizes
  • Select and meet with an officiant to plan out your ceremony
  • Meet with your legal advisors
  • Reserve your rehearsal with the ceremony site and dinner location
  • Select and purchase your bridal attire
  • Schedule fittings, alterations and pick up/delivery
  • Pick your bridal party and select their attire
  • Order bridesmaids attire and schedule fittings, alterations and pick up/delivery
  • Begin selecting all wedding ceremony and reception services
  • Select and secure a stationer
  • Select and order invitations, thank you notes and other stationery

NINE TO SIX MONTHS PRIOR

  • Secure a deposit with:
  • Photographer
  • Videographer
  • Caterer
  • Florist
  • Ceremony music
  • Reception music
  • Rentals company
  • Linens company
  • Make appointments for bridal and engagement portraits with your photographer
  • Continue planning your wedding ceremony and reception with your wedding professionals
  • Select and order Groom's attire and schedule fittings, alterations and pick up/delivery
  • Select your Groom's attendants and order their attire.
  • Schedule fittings, alteration and pick up/delivery for Groom's attendants
  • Begin to plan your honeymoon
  • Select your gift registry

SIX TO FOUR MONTHS PRIOR:

  • Announce engagement to local newspapers
  • Send thank you notes for gifts received
  • Select and reserve (if possible) accommodations for traveling guests
  • Finalize the guest list
  • Select and purchase trousseau
  • Continue planning the wedding with the professionals
  • Finalize any orders that need to be done before the wedding
  • Research legal matters such as marriage licenses
  • Help your parents in selecting their formal attire
  • Select day of wedding transportation
  • Select a baker and schedule an appointment for sample tasting
  • Begin beauty regimen

FOUR MONTHS TO SIX WEEKS PRIOR:

  • Begin preparing invitations
  • Continue with thank you notes
  • Visit your hairstylist for a haircut and also reserve them for day of wedding
  • Make any other pre-wedding beauty appointments for you and your bridal party (massage, spa, manicure,
    etc.)
  • Select and reserve make-up artist for day of wedding
  • Mail invitations to out-of-town guests
  • Select and order accessories and party favors for the wedding and reception
  • Finalize your honeymoon details, including all paperwork
  • Continue planning the wedding with the professionals and finalize all ceremony details with your officiant
  • Make reservations for your bridal parties' guests
  • Select your wedding attire cleaning and preservation
  • Select a floral company and choose you're your flowers for the wedding and reception
  • Begin packing if you plan on moving

ONE MONTH PRIOR:

  • Mail local invitations and begin RSVP count
  • Schedule final fittings for entire wedding party
  • Obtain marriage license and necessary health records
  • Complete shopping for gifts, accessories, honeymoon, etc.
  • Obtain any medications needed for honeymoon and travel
  • Confirm appointments with hair stylist and make up artist
  • Have bridal portrait taken and framed
  • Plan and finalize rehearsal dinner
  • Begin to address wedding announcements
  • Finish wedding favors if not ordered or purchased
  • Attend and parties the are being held in your honor

TWO WEEKS PRIOR:

  • Pick up any ordered items
  • Call all unresponsive guests
  • Confirm travel itineraries and accommodations for visiting guests
  • Finalize menus with caterers
  • Meet with the band or DJ to finalize and song lists including the couples first song
  • Finalize details with photographer
  • Finalize details with videographer with filming
  • Meet with the baker to finalize cake details and transportation
  • Finalize any details with the florist and delivery of the flowers
  • Finalize any and all details with the rental and decorations company
  • Meet with the reception site manager to finalize all details
  • Maintain your beauty regimen making any final appointments
  • Delegate post-wedding tasks to family members and bridal party
  • Finalize all moving details and finish packing

THE WEEK OF YOUR WEDDING:

  • Call caterers and finalize guest count
  • Confirm honeymoon travel and obtain tickets
  • Confirm all accommodations for the two of you
  • Confirm wedding day transportation
  • Confirm the fit of all wedding attire
  • Pack for honeymoon and your wedding night bag
  • Gather all wedding day items
  • Last minute shopping for wedding and honeymoon items
  • Attend preliminary appointments for make up and hair
  • Take a day for a massage, facial or relax at a spa
  • Attend your rehearsal dinner
  • Give gifts to your bridal party, family and fiancé
